Ugandan singer-songwriter AfriKane, born Grace Wilson Akoyo, has officially stepped into the spotlight with the release of his debut EP titled Sincerely Afrikane The EP.
The project, which was released on May 22, 2026, has already achieved notable success just days after its launch, entering several iTunes charts and receiving praise from music lovers for its honest songwriting and warm sound.
The official listening party for the EP was also a major success, attracting a large number of industry professionals who came together to celebrate the release and show support for the rising artist.
Sincerely Afrikane The EP is described as an honest musical letter to people who have ever felt pressured to fit into a certain image or standard in order to be accepted.
The project combines emotional lyrics with warm jazz-inspired sounds and intimate vocals, creating a style AfriKane calls “melancholic deep pop.”
Speaking about the EP, AfriKane said the project was created from a deeply personal place.
“I wrote this EP from a very personal space. It’s my way of telling everyone, this is my journey, but you can create your own story too. You don’t have to fit into anyone’s box. Speak with an honest heart and put it out there,” he said.
Some of the standout songs on the EP include My City, a track that explores the disappointment many people face after leaving Uganda in search of a better life abroad.
Other songs on the project include Pleasure, Legacy, Freezout, Breath, and Am Yours.
AfriKane also extended appreciation to the partners who helped make the successful rollout of the EP possible, including Ria Entertainment, Villagio, Bantu Vibes, Pyong, and the entire team behind the project.
Their contribution, he noted, played a key role in bringing the EP to life exactly as planned.
The EP was distributed through DistroKid and is currently available on major music platforms.
