Rema Namakula has revealed that her Islamic wedding (Nikkah) with husband Hamza Ssebunya was quietly concluded long ago—contrary to what many fans believed.
Speaking about her relationship milestones, Rema disclosed that the marriage ceremony was successfully held in private, attended by only a small, selected group of close individuals.
“My wedding is already done. It was a real wedding, and it had only a few people,” she said.
The singer, who held her traditional introduction ceremony (Kwanjula) in 2019, explained that many fans assumed the Nikkah had never taken place. However, she clarified that the Islamic ceremony actually happened even earlier.
“We did the Nikkah and I received the mahar. In fact, it got done before I did the kukyala. We had finished everything, and that wedding was for a selected few—we weren’t more than 20 people,” she revealed.
Rema described the intimate ceremony as one of the most special moments of her life, emphasizing how meaningful it was to celebrate such a milestone away from public attention and cameras.
“It was one of the best moments of my life because I was able to do it privately. There were no cameras,” she added.
Despite already being officially married, Rema hinted that a bigger public celebration could still happen in the future.
“But if we reach a point and feel like we want to do the big celebrations, then Insha’Allah,” she said.
