Musician Kalifah AgaNaga has boldly weighed in on the ongoing trend of artists listing their hit songs, distancing himself from the debate and placing himself in what he calls a “legendary” class.

The trend, which was sparked by fellow singer Pallaso, has seen several musicians count and showcase songs they believe qualify as hits—often aiming to prove they have at least 20 or more. However, AgaNaga insists he doesn’t belong in that conversation.

“I am included in the list of hits. I was the only one with hits for some time. If I hadn’t joined the music industry, many things in the music industry wouldn’t have happened,” he stated.

AgaNaga went on to describe himself as a veteran who has already achieved it all, arguing that comparing his catalog to others diminishes his contribution to the industry.

I am a veteran in this industry. I have done it all. I controlled trends from 2013 until 2019 when I left you with Kiboko Fire and entered politics—but now I’m back,” he added.

The outspoken artist further claimed that his influence goes beyond just making music, suggesting he played a key role in shaping the careers of other stars and redefining the industry’s sound.

Drawing comparisons with heavyweights like Jose Chameleone and the duo Radio and Weasel, AgaNaga emphasized his impact as a standalone artist. He also controversially claimed that without his presence, some of today’s top acts might not have broken through.

If I didn’t come, the likes of Sheebah Karungi wouldn’t be there, Pallaso wouldn’t have hit,” he asserted.

AgaNaga also credited himself and producer Nash Wonders for introducing a new production style at a time when the industry was dominated by producers Washington and Paddy Man, arguing that their innovation changed the direction of Ugandan music.

According to him, this legacy places him far above current hit-count debates.

I’m not on the level of hits,” he concluded, insisting his contribution to the industry is in a league of its own.
