Many Ugandans, especially those in rural and semi-urban areas, still face challenges in accessing formal financial services like banking because of issues like limited branch networks, long-distance travel, among others.

In partnership with Interswitch Uganda, Salaam Bank came up with a practical solution to this challenge by launching a new service called Quickteller Agency Banking on Monday at their head office located in Rwenzori Courts, Kampala.
Developed by Interswitch, Quickteller is a trusted and secure product integrated with Uganda’s payment ecosystem. It allows users to access services like mobile money transactions, bill payments, digital commerce, cash deposits and withdrawals, airtime top-ups, funds transfers, and event tickets from their mobile devices or computers.
This important step towards boosting financial convenience for the bank’s customers will allow them to access Salaam Bank’s services even in areas without a branch, through over 20,000 Quickteller agents nationwide.
While speaking at the launch, Moris Seguya, the General Manager of Interswitch, highlighted the importance of this partnership which not only extends Salaam Bank’s services onto the Quickteller agent network but also solves the problem of inaccessibility of banking services due to long distances from banks.

“As Salaam Bank, we are committed to seeing every Ugandan access banking services where they live, work, and in every part of the country. To make that possible, we partnered with Interswitch to help our customers bank using their Salaam Bank account through Quickteller agents,” said Ssemakula Shafic, the Head of Business at Salaam Bank.
“To our customers, you no longer need to come to the bank to deposit or withdraw money, look for any authorized Quickteller agent, ” Shafic added.
“We recognize that customers are looking for simpler, closer, and more flexible ways to access financial services. Many live far from banking halls or run businesses that need quick everyday transactions at their doorstep. Through our partnership with Interswitch, we are creating a more inclusive and customer-friendly ecosystem where banking is brought closer to people regardless of distance,” said Geldon Abdulrazakai, the Executive Director of Salaam Bank.
Salaam Bank is proud to be the first institution to offer Islamic financing in Uganda, ushering in a new era of financial possibilities rooted in ethical principles.
