Veteran media personality and talent manager MC Kats has opened up about the financial reality behind his decades-long contribution to Uganda’s entertainment industry, revealing that no artiste has ever given him more than UGX 2 million as a token of appreciation.
Speaking candidly, Kats shared that despite being instrumental in promoting countless artistes, organizing shows, and shaping careers, the highest-value gift he has ever received came from singer Pallaso, who once gave him an Audi car.
According to Kats, the car wasn’t in perfect condition, but it stood out as the most memorable gesture anyone in the industry has ever extended to him.
“No musician has ever got UGX 1 million and given it to me. They usually give me 500k, 200k when you find them again. But for all the concerts I have done, I don’t remember an artiste paying me or giving me solid cash of 2 million,” he explained.
Kats emphasized that he does not feel entitled to the musicians’ money, acknowledging that none of them ever formally hired him or requested his help. Instead, he stepped in out of passion and commitment to the industry.
Still, he admits the lack of appreciation stings sometimes: “I know they will ask me, did I ever request your help? So I lament and leave it there.”
