Lutalo shared that he first met Bafana around 2008 at Seeds Studio in Bakuli, where he had gone to record music.

Coincidentally, Cindy Sanyu was also at the same studio working on one of her songs. It was during that visit that Lutalo noticed a young, energetic artist whose voice and flow immediately caught his attention.

“I found him in Bakuli at a studio called Seeds. In fact, Cindy had gone there to record her song in 2008 and I saw Bafana and was impressed by his voice and flowing,” Lutalo revealed.

At the time, Eddy Kenzo was also in studio to work on their collaboration with Lutalo, and Lutalo took the moment to pitch Bafana to him as a talent worth giving a chance.

According to Lutalo, that initial moment marked the beginning of Bafana’s breakthrough. He recalls how Bafana later started coming to Da Hares, the music group Lutalo belonged to, where he interacted and worked with them. His presence and talent quickly drew attention.

“Bafana even used to come to Da Hares and worked with us and people liked him because for me at that time I had already broken through so I gave him the chance too,” he explained.
