Renowned media personality Faridah Nakazibwe has shared her opinion about the English language and financial success, saying that speaking English does not guarantee wealth.

“The English language doesn’t make money. If you want to stay broke, keep speaking English,” Faridah said.
The celebrated journalist, who was once among the top ‘Luganda’ language news anchors in Uganda, made the remarks while encouraging people to value and use their local languages more.
Faridah, known for her exceptional presentation and command of Luganda, resigned from her anchoring role in 2024 after years of outstanding service.
Her remarks have sparked public debate on social media, with many Ugandans agreeing that local languages can create stronger connections and business opportunities within communities.
