Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone has revealed that he is open to performing at National Unity Platform (NUP) rallies if invited by its president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine.

Speaking during an interview in the United States, where he attended the wedding of his close friend Juliet Zawedde, Chameleone emphasized that friendship and music transcend political affiliations.
“If Bobi Wine calls me, I will sing for him. Not even hiring me, but if he calls me as his friend to come sing at his rally in Bugiri, I will come,” Chameleone said.
The “Valu Valu” hitmaker clarified that such a gesture would not mean he is crossing over to the opposition, noting that his loyalty to the NRM remains firm.
“It doesn’t mean that if I sing at his campaign, I will stop supporting the NRM. It is the same reason a Muslim can go to a Catholic church or a Christian can visit a mosque without changing their faith,” he explained.
Chameleone also shed light on the diversity of political affiliations within his family, saying that each member supports different parties without conflict.
“In our house, we have many parties. Pallaso belongs to NUP, our father is DP, and I am NRM. I love that party so much because it’s the one I grew up seeing,” he said.
He further praised President Yoweri Museveni, expressing deep admiration and gratitude, particularly recalling the time the President supported his medical treatment.
