During the broadcast, Gashumba emphasized that Sheilah, a well-known socialite and media figure in Uganda, has lived a life insulated from the common experience of using public taxis—a mode of transport relied upon by millions of Ugandans daily.

“I swear upon Allah, she has never used a taxi in her life,” Gashumba declared, underscoring his point with a solemn oath.

He went on to clarify that the closest Sheilah ever came to public transportation was a school van during her early years at Kabojja International School. “For the fewest times, maybe she has used a van to go to school at Kabojja—that’s not a taxi,” he explained.

Gashumba also revealed that Sheilah’s only other brush with anything resembling public transport was a single trip on a Scandinavian Express bus, a long-distance coach service.

However, he was quick to differentiate this from the typical taxi experience. “She has also only used the Scandinavian Express bus once for a trip. But when I say this, people think I am showing off, but these are facts,” he said.

Gashumba contrasted his daughter’s experiences with his own, admitting, “I personally have used taxis uncountable times.”
