Carol Nantongo has spoken openly about being labeled a “band singer” and how this label, rather than holding her back, has become a source of pride.
Carol shares that despite any stereotypes associated with being called a “band singer,” her music career has brought remarkable changes to her life and her family’s well-being.
Carol, who grew up in a low-income household raised by a single mother, credits her success in music for elevating her family out of poverty.

Reflecting on her journey, she said, “Even watching a TV has been recent when I started singing in 2016. It’s even now that we start to understand people use electricity in their homes. So when I say this band music has changed my life and my family, I mean it.”
Through her music career, Carol has been able to provide her mother with modern comforts that were once out of reach.
Her mother now owns a smartphone and can access medical care whenever needed, a privilege Carol is grateful to provide. Beyond improving her mother’s life, she also ensures that her family is well-cared for.
