Since aligning herself with the National Unity Platform (NUP), Nina Roz has often taken aim at Kenzo and the Uganda National Musicians Federation, questioning their direction and decisions on several occasions. However, in a recent interview, she acknowledged that Kenzo’s efforts—particularly in pushing forward the copyright amendment—deserve recognition.

I want to thank him because no one has ever succeeded (in getting copyright amendment), so let’s give him flowers,” Nina Roz said. “This industry isn’t easy to lead—we aren’t easy. So to see that he has been able to handle the musicians, it’s great, and you can’t fail to give him his flowers.”

Her remarks mark a notable change, signaling a willingness to separate past disagreements from present achievements.

Nina Roz also emphasized that her departure from the federation does not mean she cannot appreciate progress where it is due.

Leaving the federation doesn’t stop me from recognizing and appreciating a good thing when it happens,” she noted.

Beyond individual praise, the singer used the moment to call for unity within Uganda’s music industry. She warned against ongoing divisions, saying they continue to hold the industry back.

I know many people are fighting us to be disunited. The industry has been built on fights, so let’s stop that. We have grown up—especially those of us who want to streamline the industry.”
