Singer A Pass has opened up about how the late Mowzey Radio played a huge role in shaping his music journey before he became a household name.

Speaking in an interview, A Pass revealed that he met the Neera hitmaker through his brother, Stereo, who was then Radio’s official DJ. The meeting happened at Badi Music Studios, where Radio took a keen interest in A Pass’s music and listened to about 50 of his songs.
According to A Pass, Mowzey Radio appreciated his talent but gave him valuable advice that would later influence his career direction.
Radio told him that while his music was good, he needed to focus more on singing in Luganda and simplify his lyrics to connect better with Ugandan listeners.
“Radio told me that if I wanted to make it in Uganda, I should sing in Luganda and make my songs easier for people to understand,” A Pass said.
The Chupa Ku Chupa singer added that although he has the ability to perform Jamaican-style dancehall and compose songs with deep English lyrics, he has always remembered and applied Radio’s advice. This, he says, helped him strike a balance in his music—creating songs that Ugandans can easily relate to while still maintaining his unique style.
Mowzey Radio, who passed away in 2018, remains one of the most influential artists in Uganda’s music industry, and A Pass’s revelation adds to the many stories of how the fallen star inspired and mentored fellow musicians.
