Kampala, Uganda — Kampala is set for a novel approach to environmental stewardship as Afrikanity, a conservation program by the African Golden Cat Conservation Alliance (AGCCA), is introduced to the urban public at the home of AGCCA — Akright City, Kampala — on Saturday, 11th October 2025.

Afrikanity is more than just an environmental program; it’s deeply rooted in African culture and ways of life, aiming to inspire stewardship and public support for environmental protection. The initiative packages messages about environmental preservation in engaging ways, drawing from rich elements of African culture.
Through diverse expressions of African art, food, language, storytelling, fashion and design, hair and beauty, music, and film, Afrikanity emphasizes how African culture has always been — and continues to be — a powerful pathway for ubuntu and self-appreciation of our identity as Africans.
Afrikanity has partnered with some of Uganda’s leading creatives to spark conversations on environmental protection through culturally rooted narratives and an immensely rich body of talent. The movement not only “re-Africanizes” us but also resonates with the lifestyles of Africa’s urban population.
The program is inspired by over 15 years of environmental protection efforts across 19 African countries, leveraging culture to protect the environment and improve the well-being of more than 8,000 local families.

Afrikanity promises entertainment, fun, inspiration, and hope — featuring intimate engagements with creatives, rich cultural showcases, and specially curated activities that bring Africanity to life.
“Afrikanity is about reconnecting ourselves with nature through fun, deep, and culturally inspired ways.”
