Singer David Lutalo has opened up about why he enjoys a massive following among local fans, particularly women.
Speaking in an interview, the Kapapaala hitmaker explained that his music appeals differently to various audiences — a strategy that has helped him build a broad and loyal fanbase across Uganda.
According to Lutalo, his local fans are mostly drawn to his deep and thought-provoking lyrics, while urban fans appreciate the rhythm and production of his songs.
“The local fans listen to be challenged because they prefer something that makes them think. For the urban fans, I make good beats for them to dance,” he said.
Lutalo added that his ability to balance both lyrical depth and modern sound has been the secret to his enduring success.
He also noted that he doesn’t confine himself to one particular style of music and has even recorded songs in English, despite some fans assuming he isn’t fluent in the language.
“I don’t limit myself to one style. I sing in different languages and styles because music is universal,” Lutalo emphasized.
