Singer Ykee Benda has revealed that he dated his now wife, Emily Nyawira, for just six months before they held their colorful customary wedding ceremony earlier this month.
Speaking about the timeline, Benda explained that he doesn’t consider the decision rushed.
According to him, when a person meets the right partner at the right stage in life, there is no need to delay commitment.
“I don’t feel like it was fast. When you meet the right person and you’re at the right age, you need to show people that you’re responsible and ready to commit,” the Muna Kampala hitmaker said.
Benda and Emily, a lawyer by profession, exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony known as kwanjula. The couple says they are optimistic about building a healthy and lasting marriage together.
This isn’t the first time Ykee Benda has been engaged. He was previously set to wed his baby mama, but the two parted ways before the COVID-19 pandemic. The singer now believes he has found true love in Emily, who has brought new joy into his life.
