Ntinda-based radio station, Radio 4, has secured the services of renowned radio personality Bina Babie, whose real name is Robina Mbabazi Mulera, confirmed Station Manager Adam Kungu.
Kungu disclosed this development in a post on Thursday via X, announcing that the seasoned radio host would helm the mid-morning show on the station.
“Your mid-mornings just got better. We’re thrilled to welcome the exceptional, iconic Bina Babie to 103.3 FM Radio 4,” Kungu’s statement read, albeit lacking in further specifics.
Insider sources within the Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi-owned station revealed that Bina would co-host the mid-morning show alongside Tinah Nangonzi.
Bina Babie recently concluded a remarkable 20-year stint hosting the mid-morning show, “Mubeezi,” on 90.4 Dembe FM.
When reached for comment, Kungu reiterated the acquisition of Bina, emphasizing its significance to Radio 4’s standing as one of the country’s premier radio stations.
“She embodies exactly what Radio 4 stands for—a perfect match for our listeners’ preferences and demands. Her extensive following, experience, and, most importantly, her connection with her audience were key factors in our decision,” Kungu stated.
He further expressed confidence in Bina’s capabilities, assuring listeners of top-tier content. Kungu indicated that details regarding Bina’s debut on Radio 4 would be communicated in due course.
Before her tenure at Dembe FM, Bina had a stint with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (formerly UTV and Radio Uganda) as a presenter for a teen-oriented show. She transitioned to Dembe FM after four years.
In a 2018 interview with a local newspaper, Bina revealed her initial aspiration to become a medical doctor, which was thwarted by her aversion to the sight of deceased individuals. Despite briefly enrolling in medical school, she ultimately pursued accounting studies at Nkumba University, where she graduated.
Born as the eldest of five siblings, Bina attended Lugogo Nursery School, Kitante Primary School, and Trinity College Nabbingo for her education, culminating in high school at St. Joseph’s Naggalama.
