Musician Ykee Benda has supported artists in their quest for the government’s 13 billion Uganda shillings.
According to Ykee Benda, musicians are tax payers like any other Ugandans and should receive assistance from the state.
Additionally, he stated that since they contribute significantly to the government, subsidies should be granted to them if there is no negative reason.
“We deserve to be supported because we are Ugandans and taxpayers. I don’t see any bad thing when the government decides to sponsor us because we shall give them back money. It’s more like a loan, and musicians employ different people, so the support is not going into a single person’s pocket,” he said in an interview with Sanyuka Television.
According to Ykee Benda, the artists should be paid more than 13 billion shillings in Uganda.
