Uganda’s acclaimed climate activist Vanessa Nakatte recently had her kwanjula. Nakatte was introducing partner and fellow activist David Reuben to her parents. However, the internet wondered if Nakatte had considered the carbon footprint of her glamorous ceremony.
“I wonder if she for example factored in the cars that people drove to the ceremony. Did she think about the plastics that made the ceremony? We thought her Kwanjula would be used to drive the statement about the environment that she so cares about!” One internet in-law complained.
Another added; “at least she should have told us her carbon footprint. I am sure even Greta Thunberg would be shocked. She could have chosen a minimalist path. But may be the environment is just about other people. Nakatte yalimbye nyo.”
